Hi All,
I am running large deformation on Abaqus/Explicit and my status file says that because this analysis contains more than 30,000 elements, double precision is recommended. It indicates that for successful running of simulation, I must switch to double precision. Can anyone elaborate to me how to do it. Thanks, Subhash Anurag |

From command line:
abaqus job=<jobname> double or from CAE, edit job in the job manager. Use the "Precision" tab in the job editor (Job->Create), or use "abaqus double job=jobname" on the command line. A search on "double precision" in the on-line documentation would have easily provided you this information.

Single precision mathematics uses fewer significant digits, and therefore uses less memory and is faster. Double precision mathematics uses more significant digits, and is therefore more accurate and less prone to round-off errors.
