continuation of an Abaqus/Standard analysis requires the .023,.mdl,.stt,.prt,.odb files.
 The analysis cannot proceed
 what happened please?

Re: Run error message

Martin Bäker
exactly what it says. You specified a continuation analysis (restart)
and did not provide the files that are needed for that.

Possibly you are running a restart/import analysis and the .023,.mdl,.stt,.prt,.odb files of the initial analysis have either been deleted, or exist in another directory.

George thanks, I have now gotten past that, however do you or anyone tell me how to apply gravity load gradually over time? Thanks.

Re: Run error message

George Papazafeiropoulos
If you are working through editing the input file, use the following option to define a gravity load:
 *DLOAD
element number or element set, GRAV, gravity constant, comp1, comp2, comp3
If you are working using Abaqus/CAE, in the Load module click Create Load, choose Mechanical for the Category and choose Gravity for the Types for Selected Step.
 Best,

Re: Run error message

Darshik
Hello,
I am beginner in Abaqus. I want to have somw information about Hybrid
elements and reduced integration. For example in which circumstances or for
which material we can use hybrid elements and what's the exact application
of reduced integration.

Thank you

Re: Run error message

Martin Bäker
Hybrids:

Always use when the material is incompressible or almost so (poisson's ratio > 0.45)
May be helpful when plastic deformation is large since plasticity conserves volume (in metals).

Reduced:

In quadratic elements mainly helpful to save computing time, accuracy is usually not affected much...

In linear elements, may be used in bending problems where
fully-integrated elements suffer from shear locking, but reduced
linear elements are prone to hourglassing.

Good reference for beginners is the getting-started manual.
