Heat due to friction

saint_foru

Hi,

I am supposed to run a calculation with frictional contacts defined. And want to know if this contact friction can used to generate heat between these two surfaces.
Does abaqus has this capability? And if yes, can anyone share me a link or small assembly to exhibit this phenomena?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Manoj Patil

Hi Manoj,

 Yes Abaqus has this ability. The Abaqus documentation has an example problem with input files and explanation.

Have a look in:
Abaqus Documentation ->
     Example Problems -> Heat Transfer and Thermal-Stress Analyses and Particle Methods ->
        Heat transfer and thermal-stress analyses -> Thermal-stress analysis of a disc brake
